  • Planting Method :
    • When :
      • Establish during summer after good rains. Plant early in areas which are subject to harsh frosts.
    • How :
      • Requires a fine and firm seedbed. Compaction is advised.
  • Management :
    • Permits flexibility of use – even in a mature state it remains green and is readily taken by cattle and sheep.
    • Easy to establish and quick to develop into a utilizable pasture.
    • Loses vigour if overgrazed during summer months.
    • Panicum is at its best in areas with high rainfall and mild winters
    • Can be mixed with Smutsfinger / Rhodesgrass / Borseltjie
  • Advantages :
    • Very palatable and valuable pasture grass.
    • Selected cultivars (Gatton) produce hay and foggage of high quality.
